We protect endangered Asian elephants to prevent them from becoming extinct

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to push myself well outside my comfort zone, and in just two months go from never running more than 5K to running a half marathon!

"Why would you do this to yourself?" you ask. The answer is simple: there's a wonderful charity doing incredibly important work that needs help!

Founded in 2002 by Mark Shand, Elephant Family is the leading UK charity dedicated to saving Asian elephants from extinction in the wild. The Asian elephant is a keystone species. By saving them, we help many other endangered animals that share their forest homes including tigers, orangutans, hornbills and rhinos. The Asian elephant holds a special place in the animal kingdom: it is at the centre of a web of life that plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of the landscape around it. If the elephant goes, entire ecosystems will be lost with it.

Join me in helping Elephant Family continue to do this important work, and support the crazy that is my ambition to go from zero to half-marathon runner in two months!

Massive habitat loss over the past 100 years has wiped out 50% of Asia's wild elephant population, along with the vital ecosystems they used to support. Elephant Family exists to save this iconic animal from extinction by securing vital habitat and reducing conflict with local communities.
