We fight for a world without iron overload to prevent serious illness and save lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My lovely Husband, Michael died last November following heavy blood loss, which led to cardiac arrest and subsequent organ failure. The root cause was due to Haemochromotosis. This genetic condition is not widely publicised and yet affects many people. Nicknamed "Celts Curse" due to the demographic it typically affects, untreated it causes very high levels of iron in the blood. If diagnosed early enough it is totally manageable. Sadly, for my lovely man, he did not get the attention early enough.

It is too late for Michael, but I would like to raise awareness for this condition and to hopefully prevent others from having to go through the trauma of losing someone so special. Michael was taken far too young.

I will be spending my Birthday in a Dragon Boat, hopefully not getting too wet. My daughter, Maddie is joining the all female team "Not Fast But Furious" so we can pay tribute to Michael's memory on what might otherwise be a difficult day.
