Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10k 2013 · 19 May 2013 ·

Alzheimer Scotland is the leading, national dementia charity in Scotland. Our mission is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide advice, information and support and we are here for people living with dementia, their families and carers across Scotland.

Story

Personally I feel the need to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland because earlier this year my Grandma passed away- she had dementia. I've seen the impact that Alzheimer's disease has, not only on the patient but on their family and carers.

My boyfriends Mum provides full time care for her mother who has Alzheimer’s and I admire her so much for the sheer amount of time, effort and love she gives her every single day...

..My best friend is a nurse who works on a ward in Aberdeen Infirmary caring for the elderly, the majority of them have dementia. She encounters difficult situations every day but continues to work hard, providing care and compassion to those who need it..

I’m running the Baker Hughes 10k in memory of my Grandma but also to support everyone who is affected by Alzheimer’s disease, including the families and carers who work so hard for those in need.

All money raised will go to Alzheimer's Scotland who offer care and support to those affected by dementia.

There are 800,000 people with dementia in the UK with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2021.

Please dig deep and donate anything you can to this fantastic cause.

In memory of Mary Cooper; retired nurse, Great Grandma of two, Grandma of four, Mother of two, and a loving and devoted Wife to my amazing Grandad.
