Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Charlie Duncan, I am 8 years old and last year I was diagnosed with a mandibular arteriovenous malformation (AVM). This is an extremely rare, life threatening condition, which does not have a cure at the moment, but thanks to two very special doctors at the Southern General Hospital and the medical teams at Yorkhill Hospital, they are able to do things that make me feel much better and hopefully make the time between hospital visits much, much, much longer!
My wish is that I did not have this stupid thing, but because I do and whilst I hate having to spend any time in hospital, I know that when I do go, I am getting the best possible care!
It is for that reason I want to raise funds to help support the work of Mr David Koppel of the Regional Maxilliofacial Unit, and the doctors and nurses at Yorkhill Hospital who help other kids and their families who have an equally if not harder time than me.
To start things off my dad and big sister Emma, are taking part in the Great Scottish Swim on Loch Lomond. Thankfully its being held in August and not any later in the year as my dad said he did not want to be "talking like Michael Jackson", so please help me by sponsoring them and raising money for my chosen charity and hopefully one day, I and others will become AVM free.
Thank you .
