Sponsored Slim · 4 November 2015

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you will know, my husband's 18 year old nephew, Toby, has had over 50 operations throughout his life from a very young age mainly at Great Ormond Street and more recently undergoing treatment at Addenbrookes and Papworth Hospitals.

Even as a very young child, throughout his treatment he has demonstrated a strength, sense of humour, determination and positive attitude on a scale that an Olympic athlete would be proud of.  He is such an inspiring young man to all who know him and continues to demonstrate how the power of a positive mind-set can help a person get through difficult times.

Now for the personal and embarrassing bit about me (but hey, a bit of public embarrassment in comparison to Toby's fight is nothing!).....It's normally taboo to talk about weight but here goes.....  I'm overweight.  At the time of writing this (4th November 2015) I'm 12st 6lbs - the heaviest I've ever been.  Squeezing into my size 14 clothes (if I'm honest I'm a size 16) I want to get back to a healthy size 12 in time for my birthday (beginning of March)  My aim is to loose 35 pounds within 17 weeks (that works out at 2lbs per week)  A realistic and healthy target but made all the more of a challenge with Christmas in the middle of that time frame!  AND, most importantly, maintain the healthy weight and lifestyle thereafter!

I'd be most grateful for your support to motivate me and help boost the funds for the wonderful work that the The Teenage Cancer Trust provides to teenagers and their families like Toby.
