Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Young Bristol.  Young Bristol is a charity that seeks to provide young people with opportunities to develop and discover their potential in safe and stimulating environments across Bristol.

Young Bristol has to fundraise £100,000 a year to help keep 25 youth clubs running and maintain a programme of social action programmes and physical pursuits for 10 - 18 year olds from some of the most disadvantaged parts of the city.  Its work is truly inspiring and makes a massive difference to people's lives at a crucial time in their development - and I guess why I feel so passionate about it.

Those that know me will realise this challenge takes me as far out of my comfort zone as conceivably possible.  The summit of Mount Kilimanjaro is 5895m or 19340ft.  It is Africa's highest mountain and the highest freestanding mountain in the world.  It will take 7 days to get to the top - that's 7 nights camping!  No showers, dodgy food and temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees.  About 30% of people fail to summit due to altitude sickness.  Knowing you are supporting me and Young Bristol will make all the difference as I battle with mental and physical fatigue.  Please, please give generously.
