Yorkshire Cancer Research is an independent charity dedicated to funding world-leading research to pioneer early cancer diagnosis and discover new and better treatments. Each year we fund £10 million of world-leading research to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year we sadly lost a highly respected and well-liked colleague and friend, Dr Phil Robinson, to prostate cancer. Phil was a font of scientific knowledge and was always happy to support and teach those of us more 'scientifically challenged' researchers. We miss his wisdom and his patience. Phil was a proud Yorkshireman who loved walking in the Dales, so it seemed appropriate to join in with the YCR Dales Rider Challenge and to help raise funds for cancer research in the Yorkshire region. Many of us have gratefully received YCR funding for our research and are now pleased to have the opportunity to contribute back into the YCR funding pot - with your help!

So the OPNE riders are seven lycra-clad scientists (and Sunday cyclists) from the Section of Ophthalmology and Neuroscience at Leeds University. The ladies (Dr Jacquie Bond, Dr Heather Martin and Dr Vicky Cookson)- jointly named The OPNE Cell Cyclers- have chosen the 26 mile Challenger, course whilst the men- The Cyclepaths (Profs Chris Inglehearn and Colin Johnson and Drs Ewan Morrison and Matt Adams) are booked in for the gruelling 65 mile Gear Grinder Route.

We would be very grateful if you would be kind enough to support YCR and us for this event  - no donation is too small! Unfortunately there will be photographic evidence of the event, available on request.!

Thank you and best wishes,

Jax x
