This isn't the first time that I've raised money for charity by participating in RED January. I am raising money for North East Wales Mind because it is a charity close to my heart. Mind have helped me on more than one occasion, and it's thanks to them that I'm still here today!

For those of you who have donated to my cause previously, you'll know that I struggle with my mental health from time to time. This happened in recent weeks...I lost interest in a lot of things: stopped socializing with friends, stopped playing netball....I basically stopped living and was just existing! I let work consume my life and one bad day could make me feel like my whole world was falling apart. Intrusive thoughts took over and I questioned being alive. Depression is a horrible condition and unless you've experienced it yourself, it really is so hard to comprehend.

Thankfully, I have supportive friends and family around me that recognized I was struggling, and encouraged me to reach out for help and support. I spoke to my GP and have found the right dosage of anti-depressants to help me manage. I have also received counselling that has helped me process things a lot!

RED January is an event where I will be Running Every Day in January. Exercise is a great mood lifter so I will be looking after my own mental health, as well as (hopefully) raising money for a charity that helps so many other people manage their mental health effectively! If you can spare even £1 I will be eternally grateful for your support!
