Every time I make that crossing into France via the ferry I think of all those crazy people who have swim that stretch and wonder if I could do it. So when the offer to join a team came up I jumped right in. I have wanted to really challenge myself for some time, to give something back to the amazing team of men and women who put their lives on the line to defend us at a moments notice. Having met more and more of the Armed Forces through friends and my amazing boyfriend I am determined to say thank you in my own way. So here we are, it's a challenge where the real risks are hypothermia, exhaustion, drowning, sevre sea-sickness and pooh!

I know there are so many calls to gift your hard earned cash to worthy causes but I am hoping you can find just a few pounds to spare for such a worthy cause. Plus when I am swimming through miles of pooh, freezing cold and exhausted having vomited all my dinner I am going to need every last bit of motivation you can spare.

The great thing about any donation you make is that Network Rail (my employer) will match the donation and give the money to Action for Children a childrens charity so you give once and the money goes to help for Heroes and then the same amount goes to Action for Children.

28.05.2013 - training starts properly. long sessions in the pool and cold water here I come.
