Story

Hi there guys, my daughter and I have joined forces to raise money for Diabetes UK. Incredibly we both got diabetes type one around the same time as each other. Lola was just 8 years old when she was rushed into hospital and was in critical condition for the first 12 hours. I had just had a new born baby three days earlier and had suffered heavy blood loss myself when this emergency happened. Without the amazing Doctor's and Nurses at Peterborough Hospital she wouldn't have made it through, the nurses were in the room the entire night, and the Doctors every three minutes, to keep her from verging into a daibetic coma - she was that ill. Two days later it was Easter Sunday and I'll never forget my brave little girl holding it all together until I took her into the bathroom where she asked if this would be forever, and her little face crumpled into sobs of despair and confusion. After 5 days in hospital she was allowed to come home for the day, and she decided to raise money for the hospital there and then - which she did even though she was still so ill. Life as a diabetic is a huge struggle, not just daily but minute by minute it affects you and your loved ones who care for you. Diabetes UK is an amazing charity and because of them Lola is now on a pump which helps her to manage her diabetes better. She's also attended Diabetic Camps where she has met teenagers like herself and took part ia amazing outdoor activities. Please help sponser this mother and daugther team to help raise funds for this amazing charity - we are both so thankful for any help given : )
