Jaime and Alex are raising money for the Brittle Bone Society. Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bones) is a genetic disorder of collagen, a
protein which forms the framework for the bone structure. In OI the
collagen may be of poor quality, or there may just not be enough to
support the mineral structure of the bones. This makes the bones weak
and fragile and results in the bones being liable to fracture at
anytime without trauma. Jaime's twin brothers, Ryan & Scott, were diagnosed with OI when they were just 6 weeks old after Scott's arm broke while being dressed.
The Brittle Bones Society helps people with OI to cope with their day to day life, giving them the advice and help they need to live easier and more independant lives. They provide specialist equipment and wheelchairs when needed, and provide a valuable social network enabling families to get together and share their experiences and knowledge of how to cope with this condition, letting them feel that they are not alone.
In return for your kind donation Jaime is going to run the Edinburgh marathon and Alex is going to run the half marathon.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
