We help blind and partially sighted people to break down the barriers of sight loss

Story

Most will opt to travel to the Egg and Poultry Industry Conference (EPIC) by car this year, but Poultry World reporter Jake Davies is aiming to cycle there cross-country – literally – in just one day.

He will set off from Hyde Park Corner in central London on 1 November and ride 140 miles, one for every year that Poultry World has been in publication, to raise funds for the Royal National Institute of Blind People.

The route will see him riding out from the capital city along the A4, past Reading and through the North Wessex Downs. He will skirt around the edge of Bristol before crossing the Severn Bridge, entering his home country of Wales and heading to The Celtic Manor.

Jake said: “I wanted to celebrate Poultry World’s birthday, challenge myself, and raise some money for a great cause. This big bike ride to EPIC seemed a perfect way to do all three.

“The RNIB supports those losing or who have lost their sight, and research into preventing it.

About the charity

Every day 250 people in the UK start losing their sight. With your help, we can be there when people need us most, support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss. Every pound you raise will help create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.
