Jay's running the Liverpool marathon for Willowbrook hospice

Liverpool Marathon 2012 · 14 October 2012 ·
Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page - I'm running the Liverpool marathon this October and hoping to raise some funds for the Willowbrook hospice based between Knowsley and St Helens.
My Dad Jimmy was diagnosed with cancer in July 2010 - and even worse, was told that there was nothing that could be done in terms of treatment - it was terminal. He reacted to the news brilliantly - he genuinely felt that he had lived his life and was grateful for the 75 years he had. The following months were very hard, but we pulled together and tried to make the most of the time we had - we had lots of days out as a family. My Dad loved spending time with us - especially Jake and Georgia - his grandchildren.
Willowbrook hospice was there for us and my Dad. The people who work there are absolutely brilliant - they kept him safe, warm and free from pain. Nothing was too much trouble for them - when you left to go home for the night, you knew that he was being looked after by people who genuinely cared for him.
Dad died peacefully on a Tuesday, 21st December 2010 - surrounded by his family - he was 76.
The Willowbrook hospice is there to help people like us in the most dreadful of circumstances, but they rely on voluntary contributions to carry on their work. It costs almost £3million a year to run the centre, so any contributions they receive are gratefully accepted.
Thank you for taking the time to read my reasons behind attempting the marathon in memory of my Dad - I hope you won't mind making a small contribution, so that they can still be there in our future.
