James's Gurkha Challenge

Gurkha Challenge · 27 July 2013
This weekend me and a team of 12 Richmond Group employees will be enduring The Gurkha Challenge. This gruelling feat is a 100km march across country along the hills of the South Downs way, running roughly from Portsmouth to Brighton.
The challenge was designed as an extreme training tool for the Gurkha Regiments of the British Army and is still used to test endurance in some of the toughest combat teams on the planet but is now also open to anyone brave or stupid enough to think they can do it.
Starting at 6am on Saturday the team will be trying to to finish by 6am, walking through a forecast of both sun and rain, and marching through the night. To avoid muscle seize ups the team will be avoiding rest breaks and eating on the go.
We are aiming to raise £10,000 for Julia's House, a children's Hospice which provides care for children with life limiting conditions. The money we raise will allow Julia's House to employ an extra carer which will directly mean that up to five families will be able to receive support in their own home.
We'll actually be rasing and donating over £40,000 as RG Staff are running a payroll donation scheme and the Richmond Group are going to match every penny donated. So whatever you donate, we'll match.
Hope you can help,
James
