Since July 2018 my family and I have shared an unexpected, difficult and very challenging journey discovering just how horrendous, debilitating and indeed life-threatening that severe depression can be.

Everyone has limits and, if you exceed them, the reality of severe mental illness is far from fun and recovery is a long and tough journey.

While there are sadly well recognised issues with mental health among vets, the broader reality is that 1 in 4 people in the UK experience mental health problems at some point in life. The chances are there is someone in your life that knows these struggles all too well. 

Vetlife exists to raise awareness of the issues facing the veterinary profession and ensure that all veterinary professionals know how to access the support that is available to them. Vetlife is dedicated to providing free, independent and confidential support to all in the veterinary community. From vet students, practice managers to recent graduates, nurses and support staff all are welcome to get in touch.
