Twenty five years ago I climbed to the 4413ft summit of Ben Nevis via the relatively easy mountain path. Once at the top I looked down the dramatic North Face and saw these small specs climbing the 2000ft rock face below me. I thought they were absolutely mad and I couldn't comprehend why anybody would want to do that. Now after twenty five years of plucking up the courage, on the 30th May this year I'm going to face my fear and climb Ben Nevis via the Tower Ridge route that struck such fear into me all those years ago.

I have boosted my life insurance and I will be ably accompanied by Mike from Abacus Mountain Guides on the day. The fact Mike was once avalanched off Ben Nevis breaking just about every bone in his body makes me think he's going to be more careful these days!
