Street action supports New Generation in Burundi, a project which works to improve the lives of former street children in the capital Bujumbura, to give them a positive future and along side this to train and equip young people with the right skills and knowledge to be the future leaders of the country. 

This is the ninth annual running of the challenge and we have raised over £100,000 for the project so far.

Our efforts have a direct impact on the success of the project and the welfare of the children who the project shelters.

Directly, the cycle challenge has raised money for a car, a cafe and coffee machine (coffee is produced locally) a house (inside and out) and numerous programmes that New Generation run.

Thanks to our efforts and those of other supporters, New Generation has now been able to purchase a plot of land in Bujumbura and are beginning to develop it. This year half of what we raise will go to support the ongoing work of the project: accommodation/ food for security and equipment/ tuition fees in order to provide a good education. 

The other half will go towards the foundations for the first permanent building on the new site, an important step towards the future stability and sustainability of the whole project.
