Hackney Half Marathon 2019 · 19 May 2019 ·

At least 2 million children in the UK are struggling to talk and understand words.  We give children and young people the skills they need so they aren't left behind. We do this by creating tools for schools and nurseries, giving advice and guidance to families and putting pressure on politicians.

Story

My niece Julia died in September last year following a road accident in South East London. She was midway through training to be a speech and language therapist, a job she would have been seriously good at. I am running in the Hackney Half-Marathon to raise money to help the UK charity I CAN do the kind of work with children with communication difficulties that Julia was passionate about. I CAN's mission is that no child should be left out or left behind because of a difficulty speaking or understanding. I would be grateful for any help that you can give to support that mission.
