James's Sufferlandrian Knighthood Attempt

James's Sufferlandrian Knighthood Attempt · 8 November 2020
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am undertaking this challenge, well I am not really sure why, I think I may not be right in the head, but it's something to do isn't it. More detail on the challenge at the link below, but it basically consists of doing 10 sufferfest training workouts, which as the name suggests are hard, back to back, which means about 10 hours hard work.

In doing so however, I hope to raise some money for ICP support (https://www.icpsupport.org/index.html) a charity that is very close to Jacqui and I, as Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP) is a condition that Jacqui suffered during pregnancy with both our children. It has several symotoms but the predominant one that Mums to be suffer with is itching, which sounds minor, but when it goes on for months on end day and night, can be quite debilitating. It is also a condition that is not well understood by health servies worldwide and hence often poorly managed. We experienced this first hand as doctors tried to medicate Jacqui incorrectly, failed to follow up on important test results and generally failed to take the condition seriously. Unfortunately this lack of understanding means that in some cases the condition results in still birth. We were lucky enough that, firstly, because of her background, Jacqui read up on the condition and to an extent self managed and educated the doctors (basically continued her life long habit of being right about just about bloody everything) and secondly, that Jacqui had those at ICP Support, who were able to tell her what treatment she should be getting. ICP Support work hard to employ research based evidence, both to support Mum's through the condition with advice and guidance and educate the medical community on managing the condition, and most importantly help to save lives.
