In 2015 my uncle had a bicycle accident, he suffered a spinal cord injury and is now a wheelchair user. When he had his accident he was transferred to the North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport.

During the 8 months he was a patient there he was receiving medical, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and support from the amazing team involved in his care and rehab. My uncle met the volunteers from the Spinal Unit Action Group ‘SUAG’ who provided a free weekly coffee bar for the patients, visitors and staff, they also provided entertainment, monthly social events and barbecues, not just for my uncle but for my auntie and other family members to. 

The kindness, time and support they gave at a very life changing and emotional time in their lives meant so much to my uncle, auntie and other family members.

So that is why i am raising money to give back to this amazing charity and the volunteers to say thank you for all you do and to enable them to continue to provide support to patients, ex patients and their families at the North West.Regional Spinal Injuries Centre.
