James's Volunteering in Uganda

Volunteering in Uganda · 16 May 2019
I saw the plight of these children, who have not had anything like the basic resources and affection I have had in my own developing years, when researching where to volunteer this summer.
They are vulnerable orphans who have nothing and are former street kids from Kampala
I’m 19, from Cumbria and in my second year at the London School of Economics.
I’ll spend 8 weeks from 24th June living with a local family and working with the local charity at both the school in Nansana and in the slum areas of Kampala to help with teaching, sport and promoting human rights.
I have volunteered in the UK with both Bay Search and Rescue, a north west search and rescue charity, with Year 9 students in Derby and recently received my Duke of Edinburgh Gold award.
I believe that most of us in the west are privileged to have the opportunities and choices that lay before us.
Clearly that is not the case in other parts of our world.
If I can give of myself to such a good cause and hopefully enrich the lives of some of these children in some small but meaningful way then I believe it will be worth the investment in both time and money.
Any donation amount would be much appreciated to help towards my goal.
