Scottish Love in Action (SLA) is a charity whose mission is to partner with grassroots Indian organisations that care for, educate and empower vulnerable children and young people.

Story

Last year I and other SLA Trustees visited 2 fantastic Indian NGOs supporting destitute and vulnerable girls – Rainbow Homes and VOICE 4 Girls. We saw the phenomenal work they are doing feeding, housing, caring for, educating and empowering girls and decided to support them. In India, 7 out of 10 girls don't complete secondary school and almost half of Indian girls are married off before the legal age of 18 while millions are forced to be child labourers or worse. SLA needs your support to help these vulnerable girls.

So this month I’m pedalling about 120 miles (or more if I get lost!) to support SLA's Girls' Lives Matter appeal. And I'm asking you to help these girls take control of their lives.

I’m aiming to raise £540. That will pay for a 10-day residential VOICE 4 Girls activity camp for a class of adolescent girls which will help give them the knowledge about their rights, the skills and the power to resist pressures to drop out of school and become a
child bride or a child labourer.

If you’re feeling really generous, £1000 will pay for a Rainbow Home ‘mother’ to look after 100 destitute girls rescued from the streets of Hyderabad (where 28,000 children live on the streets)

Please help power me down the coast, over the hills, across the border into Geordieland! And please help these girls.

Please sponsor me and, if you're feeling energetic, do your own Hoof it to Hyderabad challenge too! You've got until the end of June to do just 10km any which way you choose.

Thank you so much!!
