Rickshaw Run April 2014 · 1 April 2014 to 30 April 2014 ·
Mitun and I have decided, spontaneously, to take part in a Rickshaw charity challenge across India for Action Aid (an international NGO who fight extreme poverty).
What’s it about?
The distance:
3,373km
Further than driving from London to Moscow.
Or the equivalent of driving a third of the way around the moon.
We chose Cochi (Very Southern India) to Shillong (Very North-Eastern India)!
The vehicle:
A Bajaj Rickshaw. Top speed: 35km/h.
These are sluggish, unreliable, unstable three-wheelers only used for short taxi journeys in cities.
How are we going to do it?
We're not actually sure.
Sleep rough and cuddle hard.
We are completely alone between the start and finish line. There is no assistance whatsoever during the 12 day challenge.
We will have no GPS, no internet and no teleport machine.
The upside:
We will do whatever it takes to fit a soundsystem and take groovy music to the streets of India.
We get to paint the rickshaw in pretty colours.
The real upside:
The money we raise from you wonderful human beings will go towards a development project in India – so please give anything you can, we are risking our lives here.
Thank you all and wish us luck.
