Taylor Wessing London-Paris Cycle Ride · 17 July 2014 ·

We are Future First, a social mobility charity on a mission to equip every state school and college in the UK with a thriving and engaged community of volunteers that empowers young people with the skills and confidence to reach their potential and contribute fully to society.

Story

This July I will be joining a group of work colleagues and cycling around 300 miles from our London office to our Paris office within 3 days. The aim is to raise money for the three charities which are presently supported by Taylor Wessing UK: Changing Faces, Future First and Kids' Company.

A brief description of what these three great charities do is below.

Future First works with over 450 state schools and colleges to bring their former students back to inspire young people still at school. Many of these young people are in need of role models they can relate to - 50% of disadvantaged young people don't know anyone in a job they'd like to do and 25% think that 'people like me' are not successful. Former students show these young people that they too can be successful and can also provide practical help for example by becoming mentors, work experience providers and even governors of their old school.

Kids Company provides practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people. Its services reach 36,000 children across London and Bristol, including the most deprived and at risk whose parents are unable to care for them due to their own practical or emotional challenges.

Changing Faces helps people and families who are living with conditions, marks or scars that affect their appearance. They aim to help individuals lead full, confident and satisfying lives and change people's attitude towards those with an unusual appearance.
