Story
Hello and thanks for taking time to visit my page! As you may have heard by now I have entered into a gentle jog taking in the sites of London. This all stemmed from an over ambitious conversation one night with Amanda, that turned into her bagging me a place in the 2017 London Marathon.... i'll be keeping quiet next time!
On a serious note, i am so pleased to have got a place with a charity that means a lot to me and our family. I'm pasionate about raising money to help Steps charity and being able to give a small amount back to them in exchange for all of the emotional support we recieved throughout our journey with our eldest Son Toby.
For those of you that dont know, Toby was born with a condition called talipes.
It all began at our 20 week scan when we were told that our precious baby had an 'abnormality' and after a very emotional and anxious few weeks of further scans and tests it was confirm that he had Talipes. We weren't told what it was, so went straight to the internet and after a few scary reads we found Steps.
The information and support that Steps offered at this time was invaluable, as new parents to be we were keen to find out as much as we could and speak to parents in the same situation as us.
When Toby was born, we knew what to expect, what his feet would look like and felt confident we knew what the next few years would involve, thanks to the hours of reading through the steps forums.
Tobys treatment began when he was 3 days old in leg casts, a small operation, then followed by wearing his special 'boots and bar' until he was around 4 years old. He is now 7 and has thankfully forgotten the nights wrestling to get his boots on and getting stuck in the cot bars! More importantly he now has fully corrected feet and does his fair share of running round and completing a few obsticle races himself.
Its going to be a tough day, all i ask is that you help to support me and this charity to raise as much awareness as we can about lower limb conditions and the support that steps can offer these families.
Thanks for your support, wish me luck!
