This is not a jolly jaunt but a serious fundraising exercise on behalf of SCOPE.

Maybe I'm suffering from a grossly inflated over-optimistic arrogance to even think of cracking a bottle on the rim of the snowclad, now (one gathers) extinct volcano.

Its more than likely that altitude sickness, or the attention of a charging rhino, will have claimed me at a lower level, but I take some comfort from the fact that the dreaded sickness is just as likely to strike an England front row forward as an idiot 75 year old like me.

I have funded my personal expenses for the venture so every penny you give goes to SCOPE. Its such a worthwhile charity, and the knowledge that I have an army of sponsors backing me will oil the joints.
