I’ve been lucky enough to work with some incredible people (clients, athletes, rights holders and brands) who have done some incredible things for great causes. 

So after nearly 20 years of Professional Sports Group working with a variety of worthwhile causes, we have decided to focus on one in 2014: www.sentebale.org.

Sentebale was chosen by one of our team who had a link to the charity. The fact that it focuses on vulnerable kids is important to us. More important is that fact that the Mamahoto Children’s Centre needs sports pitches and a sports building. As the great Nelson Mandela once said, “Sport has the power to change the world”.  Given our passion for sport as a business – and our recent entry into South Africa through our partnership with Chad Le Clos – Sentebale is our ideal partner for 2014. 

So everyone in Professional Sports Group is taking a day off of our time. We aim to raise enough money to build the sports facilities. We need £40,000.

I am personally taking one day and one weekend off to do 2 challenges: 

1) Swim 5k on June 13th in Lake Windermere (where I used to spend many a summer holiday) and 

2) Swimming the Bosphorus Cross Continental on July 21st (where I have no real link!). It is less than comforting to know that only 1 in 3 swimmers finished the Bosphorus race in the allotted 2 hour slot last year!

I really hope that you will support me with a donation for completing either Windermere, the Bosphorus or both. If you have ever worked with our athletes along the way and want to give me a “win bonus” for finishing the Bosphorus in under 2 hours, I am 100% up for that – even if I need the tide to be in the right direction and a bit of a miracle. I will try to find my inner Chad Le Clos!

Whilst my swimming pain is probably worth a donation in itself, I hope that you will invest more by considering how lucky we – and all our kids – are compared to the children of Lesotho.
