Jamie's 2019 Marathon Page

Edinburgh Marathon Festival Full Marathon 2019 · 26 May 2019 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As before, I'll be running the Edinburgh Marathon and want to raise money for a charity close to the hearts of many people at Furze Platt Junior School - for children, families and staff who have been affected by cancer.
My reason for running is much the same as it was in 2017 and sadly, all that I wrote then still applies:

When I wrote the above, I talked about the knock-on effect I had seen cancer have upon children and the inspiring way that they deal with it. Once again, they are my inspiration but I've an added reason to run: at the end of 2017, my uncle lost a short battle with cancer having received a diagnosis in August and more recently, perhaps as a direct impact of losing her son, my nan passed away of a heart condition.
But it's not all doom, as new treatments to prolong life continue to be discovered. Donations help fund this vital research which allows people to spend longer with their loved ones and hopefully, one day, a cure. Whilst some lose their battle, many WILL win.
The last one was finished on six weeks of training, having spent the early part of the year with an injury - but I had to run it. Two years later, my body now aches in new places! But I'm hoping to be better prepared this time and so faster, without major injury and with more money raised!
