Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 22nd March 2013 I will begin the first of three marathons in three days along the Jurassic Coast! This will mean that between Friday 22nd March through to Sunday 24th March I will be running 78.6 miles!

Although running an ultramarathon has been a long term goal I am also very keen to raise money for two charities that mean an awful lot to me. The Charities I have chosen to run for are the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and Macmillan Cancer Support.

In 2007 I lost both my mum and my father-in-law to cancer in the space of just a couple of months. Both spent a great dealof time at the Royal Marsden and both received the best possible treatment. As well as running in memory of my mum and father-in-law my sister is currently fighting her own battle against Breast Cancer and she hasalso spent a lot of time at the Marsden (in both Chelsea and Sutton) receiving treatment to help with her fight. The Marsden provide incredible care for cancer patients and so I’d like to raiseas much money as possible to ensure they can continueto help others against this devastating disease.

I am, as I have mentioned already, also running for another charity and this on behalf of a fellow colleague and friend, Jonathon, who has sadlybeen diagnosed with a rare type of cancer; adenoid cystic carcinoma. I’m not going tobang on about how much he is suffering or what a great guy he is (which he is by the way) as I am sure that would just make him feel even worse!

However, I will just say that this is an extremely rare, unpredictable type of cancer and because Jonathan is a friend I very much admire, Idecided to also run on his behalf for a charity of his choosing. Jonathan has picked the Macmillan Cancer Support. This is a charity, which as the name suggests, provides support to those suffering with cancer and also to their families and friends. It is an honour to run on behalf of Jonathan and also for Macmillan.

Below are a few links to the charities I have chosen and also some information on the event I am taking part in .

So if you want to show your support for the work these charities have done and continue to do, for anyone you know that has suffered cancer or just to put even more pressure on me to run this crazy race please give generously!

Please be aware that you will have to give to both separately. This is because the JustGiving website does not allow for a split. Therefore whatever you were going to give,it would be great if you could split 50-50 between both charities (hopefully you won’t find it too much ofa hardship when you consider what both charities are there for).

Thank you

Jamie

PS. As well as the above I will also be running the London Marathon on 21st April 2012. Thats 4 marathons in a month for two extremely worthwhile charities!
