The Rosemary Foundation is a Charity providing a ‘Hospice at Home’ service in Petersfield and the surrounding towns and villages. It is intended to help patients in the latter stage of life limiting conditions. This service offers practical help, nursing care, emotional and counselling support, together with day and night sitting service and trained nurses available 24 hours a day. Care continues through the first year of bereavement.

They receive no statutory funding but provide an incredibly valuable service at no cost to the patient or family. 

Through my work as a vicar in East Meon and Langrish I come across so many people whose lives have been touched by the amazing Rosemary Foundation. I want to raise some money for them and a unique endurance challenge seemed like a good idea. The 'Since 1664' Yomp entails 'yomping' the South Downs Way, beginning at 5.30am on 25th May in Winchester and ending around 36-40 hours later in Eastbourne, 166.4km away. 

The climb (and descent) is the equivalent of 40% of Mount Everest. It is approximately 90% of the length of the M25 or London to Birmingham and more than twice the Leeds to Manchester distance. I hope I can summon my Royal Marines 'Commando Spirit' and push my physical and mental limits further than they've ever gone before, as there will be no opportunities for sleep!
