We transform young lives enabling them to take a different path through life

Story

Now it doesn't take much investigation to see this Mother & Daughter Duo aren't really fans of running, to be honest we're both much better advocates for a slice of cake but here we are returning to our Northern roots and signing up for the UKs largest half marathon, The Great North Run ... actually let me rephrase that, Jane/Mum signed us both up!

We have both been extremely lucky to have grown up in some of the greatest areas of countryside the UK has to offer, we have grown up building dens in the woodland, camping, walking, hiking mountains and playing in the ocean.

This love of the countryside was enhanced thanks to the YHA which allowed Mum-Jane to travel and explore the North as a youngster and later Daughter-Jess would be taken along for the journey, creating some of our greatest memories together!

Growing up with this sheer love for the outdoors Mum-Jane has (not quite) grown up and gone on to manage her own YHA Hostel in the very heart of Dartmoor and this is the charity that we have chosen to inflict pain upon ourselves for.

What you might not have known is that the YHA is a Charity which offers free breaks to families and schools who could not normally go whether that be because of money, disability or because of family illness. In the UK alone today there are 700,000 young carers & 800,000 children living with a disability.

These wonderful young people deserve a break, these people deserve an adventure! These breaks and activities create moments where young people can be themselves and create unforgettable memories in amazing places. This charity truly has the ability to deliver experiences that can change the future for these young people.

We would love you to take a look at this page and just see a couple of examples of where the YHA has made a difference to people right here in the UK - www.yha.org.uk/about-yha/impact

This Mother and Daughter duo believe in the power of adventure, the power of exploration and the power of nature!

We would love it if you could sponsor us, whether you want to sponsor us purely for the YHA or you want to sponsor us just to watch us struggle, we would be eternally grateful to you, we don't want to die in vain trying to reach that final flag! We will be sure to keep you updated with our training mishaps, fails and all things fabulously funny .... Who knows, we might even enjoy the journey!

After all, what is life without adventure!?

About the charity

We are YHA. We transform young lives through travel and real adventure. Because where you go changes who you become. We believe every child deserves the same chance to discover, explore and grow. Together we can turn isolation into exploration, adversity into adventure and fear into freedom.
