Hi everyone,
I am sure many of you are aware that matty has been battling against bowel cancer which was diagnosed last november (2012).
Sadly he passed away to day and I will miss him greatly. I met matty at university and we have spent an excellent fourteen and a half years together. We have two sons Jack and Dylan who he has been an excellent dad to.
He is the bravest and strongest man I have ever known and he has made me very proud and honoured to be his wife.
It all began last november when Matty started feeling slightly unwell and had a bit of diarrhoea and blood in his pooh. After going to the doctors and being sent for a colonscopy and an abnormal polyp being found, we were obviously extremely worried. A CT scan revealed that he had advanced bowel cancer with metastises in the liver and lymph nodes around the bowel.
Matty started treatment with an extremely positive attitude. He was ready to fight!!
He under went 3 months of chemotherapy which unfortunately the scans revealed had made little or no difference to his disease. In may he underwent SIRT (specific internal radiotherapy treatment) on the liver. In june he underwent a bowel operation and it was then that we received the devestating news that his cancer was untreatable and he only had months to live.
Even after this news Matty continued with his fight and positive outlook to life. We married after fourteen and a half years together in July. It was the best day of our lives and was so lovely to get all of our friends and family together and we had a really fun and enjoyable day.
The amount of support and help we have received from family and friends has been unbelievable and has helped us so much through this extremely difficult time. Thank you all so much. We have both been very touched by the generosity shown xx
Matty has spent the last month in St Johns hospice on the wirral. This is a charitable organisation relying on fundraising and donations and it has provided us with care and help that we could not have possibly received elsewhere. Being a family with two very young children and family far distance the hospice has been brilliant. matty has felt very safe there. The care and support offered to matty and also to my self and to the boys has been amazing.
Matty could not have been in a better place and I am so thankful to them all (Especially Joy!).
Please donate in memory of my darling husband Matty. I will miss him so much but am glad that he is at peace now and his suffering is finally over.
love you so much matty xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
