Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We are raising money in memory of our dad /husband/grandad, our dad was diagnosed with leukiminia 18 years ago and for years managed to keep it under control but knowing that one day he would need treatment, well that day came about 6 years ago when dad first became ill, since then it has been a roller coaster of a road, after A few attempts at chemo and a bad reaction to such an aggressive form of treatment he plodded along but with no energy or enthusiasm to do anything. Then in December 2012 he was taken into hospital and was there for 4 weeks we was told that there was nothing more they could do and to say our goodbyes, but miracles do happen and he pulled through but the doctors told us to make the most of the time as they don't expect him to be here by his birthday in march. Well march came and went and dad was still with us fighting all the way, he was still very unwell and we noticed that his memory was not so good and eventually got him to see a doctor who devastated us further by telling us dad had lewy body dementia and Parkinson's disease. Dad had to go into a home as we could not give him the care that he needed and it was from then on that we slowly watched him deteriorate and eventually pass away on Saturday 25th March at 2.08pm surrounded by all his family at St Francis Hospice. Watching dad take his last breath was traumatic and something I will never forget but so glad that we got the chance o say goodbye. we will be indebted to St Francis for everything that they did for dad and that is why we feel that we should try and give a bit back. St Francis do not charge money from there services and rely on funding and donations to survive. Please give any spare change you have because you never know when you may need there services xxxxxxx
