Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·

1 in 5 children and 1 in 10 adults in the UK have eczema - that's over 8 million people. For almost 50 years the Society has provided information and support and works to dispel myths so those who have eczema need not feel stigmatised, guilty or isolated.

Story

Nope, your eyes are not deceiving you! I am running the London Marathon in less than 4 months and I need all the help I can get!

I have to say I felt pretty good about the prospect of this, that was until witnessing the reaction of friends, work colleagues, family and strangers a like at hearing this news. Some might say I don’t seem like the running type.

I won’t go on about what a ridiculous challenge this is but I will quickly remind you of my love of wine, gin, pies, chips and gravy (to mention just a few) and of course my distinct lack of physical activity.

I’m delighted to be running for a fantastic cause:  the National Eczema Society http://www.eczema.org/

The National Eczema Society aims to:

·         provide people with independent and practical advice about treating and managing eczema and

·         raise awareness of the needs of those with eczema with healthcare professionals, teachers and the government

Eczema can be a devastating illness physically, socially and psychologically affecting many children and adults.

I know a different request comes through each week but I would be incredibly grateful for any amount you can spare, I can’t remember the last time I went for a run to the shops so I’ll need all the motivation I can get!
