Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. I am in training to walk Hadrian’s Wall, west coast to east coast, from 11th-15thMay 2020, a distance of 84 miles. This is to raise money for the charity Veterans With Dogs. All travel, overnight stays, food etc are being funded personally, so that all the money raised will go directly to the charity.
I am walking the wall with my lovely friend Di Goddard, who is raising money for a different cause. We never stop chatting on our training walks! We plan on walking about 18 miles a day along the wall, whatever the weather. Di is the perfect walking companion – she is always enthusiastic and she never gives up!
Veterans With Dogs have a great website, so do take a look for more information, but in brief they train and provide assistance dogs for current and former members of the British Armed Forces with service-related mental health conditions. Their work is the first of its kind in the UK, helping veterans with PTSD to lead more independent lives. They always have a waiting list for their trained dogs.
I am walking for VWD because mental health is precious, and because I believe passionately in the healing power of a dog’s love. Please help me to ensure Veterans With Dogs can continue its valuable work with those who have paid a terrible price for serving in our Armed Forces.
