We are confronting advanced breast cancer to provide hope & strength to all affected

Story

On 3rd November 2017, our beautiful, courageous Mum; wife of 29 years to our amazing Dad, was sadly taken from us at the age of 62. Although she had a pain free and peaceful passing, she had fought a long and arduous battle with cancer for near on 10 years.

Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and through radiotherapy and amazing support from Clatterbridge Centre in Merseyside she beat the disease for the first time.

She then nursed her own father through his own cancer battle for many years before his passing in 2015. Immediately after his death, Mum was told by doctors that she has developed breast cancer in the form of inflammatory cancer for a second time. This metastatic cancer was to try and rule her life for the next two years, but mum was never to complain.

Mum; being the brave soldier she was fought hard, having bout after bought of chemotherapy, unfortunately having to have a mastectomy, and even when she was told her cancer was terminal, she underwent courses of cannabis oil treatments as a natural aid to cure her of this deadly disease. Mum developed a type of skin cancer called carcinoma in her final year which spread across her body requiring daily dressing changes and constant care. Mum also later developed a form of lung cancer to which she was determined to see off.

Despite all of this mum continued to care for her family as she always had done, have days away with her beloved husband, laugh daily and even helped looked after her grand daughter each week so her own daughter could continue to go to work!

Mum took each addition that was thrown at her all in her stride and with the help from her family managed to stay at home and be with her loved ones in her final weeks. Mum's strength and determination is what keeps us going now she is no longer here. She was a powerful woman, and an inspiration to all. Words cannot express how much she will be and is missed.

Her final wishes were for that when the time came, people did not give flowers to the family, but that donations were made to a charity that specialises in advanced breast cancer. We have chosen Second Hope and if you would like to make a donation; of any kind, please do so through this JustGiving page. All donations to the charity would be greatly received and we are comforted in the notion that this is what mum wanted.

Thank You so very much for reading mum's story and for donations received.
