Story

Its been 12 years since I sat with Jackie  Branfield (director/founder of opperation Bobbi Bear) and her daughter Alia in  their kitchen ,drinking lots of tea, discussing what to do about child abuse and children's rights in South Africa and creating a toy that would appeal across cultural and racial barriers to children of all ages. Considering how the Tree Clinc was attracting women of all ages and cultures since 1993,it was time to move forward  towards empowering the rights for both women and children. So Bobbi Bear was in the making.

As an HIV nurse I know the high risks associated with rape and HIV transmission and am determined to see the end of both child abuse and HIV spread in South Africa.

Along with 2 other HIV nurses and Alia  we are going to cycle 200km or more, if our legs dont give up ,between Canterbury and Cornwall in the UK in June 2010.It is our hope to raise enough funds for the completion of Operation Bobbi Bear's dream house to provide saftey, support, counselling and empowerment for abused children. It is also my Christian faith that drives me to "do unto the least of these and you do it to me."(quote from Jesus)

Please check out Operation Bobbi Bear's and Rough Auntie's web sites for further conviction.
