Tough Mudder Half Midlands (weekend 1) · 12 May 2018 ·
On the 12th May 2018 Four mums (Jas, Fatema, Sam & Jo) from Leicester Grammar School Juniors (LGSJ) are all set to get down and dirty in the aid of raising money for Cancer Research.
Why raise money for Cancer research?
'Cancer research is not just about improving treatment and detection, it is also about understanding what causes cancer, who gets it, and why, is a huge area of research. For example, we know that our diet is very important in determining our risk of cancer – yet we’re still very much in the dark as to how. Huge studies are going on across the world looking at how diet and other lifestyle choices can affect our risk of the disease’.
This impromptu idea of running on the muddy hills of Belvoir
Castle (Grantham, Leicestershire) and facing personal fears and challenges, stems from all the inspirational stories of friends and families who have won the battle with cancer or are still at war with cancer, fighting everyday.
Even though fears can be paralysing, conquering them is within everyone’s power. For this reason mums from LGSJ Kinders have agreed to overcome their fear of heights, enclosed spaces, trekking through endless mud and much more, in order to make a difference for those people suffering with cancer and also in memory of those we have lost to cancer.
Tough Mudder is not a race, it’s a challenge designed to test teamwork and grit. Packed with challenging obstacles that require teamwork and camaraderie, Tough Mudder allows you to test your physical and mental limits while bonding with your friends and making new ones.
The Tough Mudder Team is composed of:
Jas Johal
Fatema Ismail
Sam Mullaney
Jo Staniforth
‘MUDDER WOMEN ARE TOUGHER TOGETHER’
