Vegan Runners UK - Jasmijn de Boo

Karrimor Great Trail Half Marathon, Keswick, Lake District · 24 May 2012
UPDATE (27/06/2012):
Thank you for supporting my half marathon in Keswick on 17 June. I reached my £440 target! Together with the offline sponsorship and donations made directly to The Vegan Society Justgiving page, the total raised was over £800.
It was a very tough race, with a massive hill of over 100m straight ascent, which nobody managed to run up, in the first 12K loop. We also crossed a stream, making my blisters worse, but that did not stop me. At the end of the first loop there was a steep downhill stretch straddling the hill and going through the forest. I went fast. I started the second 10K loop with a slightly sore knee. Another hill slowed us down, but I tried to run up it very slowly. The steep downhill stretch was upon me again and this time my knee was so sore that I had to walk parts of it, which was disappointing. However, I am pleased with my time of 2:18:54. I came 15th woman overall and 3rd woman in my age category.
A few days after the race I bought new trainers with a view to run injury-free next time.
Your support meant a lot to me and to The Vegan Society. We will continue to reach and inspire people to transition to a vegan diet and lifestyle. Many animal campaigns focus on 'single issues' - a vegan lifestyle offers one solution to many problems, as it helps not only other animals, but is beneficial to people and the environment too (www.vegansociety.com). Please help us educate, inspire and empower thousands of people.
Thank you very much again!
