We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

I first met my best friend Louis Coulling in the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in our hometown of Poole, Dorset. After attending different schools growing up, we were later reconnected in sixth form education and have grown to become best of friends.

After fighting hard as a premature baby, in December 2016 I was made aware that Louis had testicular cancer, which resulted in an incredibly frightening and intimidating procedure to face at Christmas time.

Post-operation, a CT scan revealed the cancer had spread to the lymphnodes in Louis' abdomen, resulting in several rounds of chemotherapy treatment and undergoing a major operation to remove a teratoma tumour.

Due to the incredible work of doctors in Poole, Bournemouth and Southampton hospitals in wards funded by Teenage Cancer Trust, and Louis' quick reaction to noticing changes in his body, he is now remission and on the mend from an illness nobody, especially a teenager who has already fought for his life once already, should be put through.

In order to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust, who are currently establishing several safe, comfortable spaces in our local Poole Hospital, I will be running the London Landmarks Half-Marathon on Sunday 25th March 2018. This will be a fantastic way to spread awareness of Teenage Cancer Trust, and thank them for helping my best friend in his recovery from cancer.

Every little donation counts to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust, and myself, Louis and his family, and the charity would appreciate anything you would like to give.

JustGiving is a safe, fast, and secure method of donating money - any donations made will go straight to the charity. "Offline donations" (cash) can be given to myself personally, and will be tallied up on the JustGiving page as a contribution. Cheques made payable to Teenage Cancer Trust should be given to myself, and I will register them at a local Barclays bank and add to the total donations.

Until you or someone close to you are affected by cancer, its easy to forget about the extensive work charities do to make treatment and recovery that little bit more comfortable and stress-free for the patient, their family, and their friends. I want to thank Teenage Cancer Trust for doing so in Louis' case.
