Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, here is my story and why I am raising money for Arc Wokingham, Free and Confidential Counselling.

My brother suddenly died in February of this year.  Not knowing where to turn for some help with my loss I asked my doctor for advise.  Without even seeing me I was referred to either 'Talking Therapies' or 'Cruse Bereavement'.  If you are not aware 'Talking Therapies' is the NHS funded therapy and Cruse is a bereavement charity run by volunteers.  Talking Therapies will allot you 6 sessions and you have to jump through some hoops in order to get them.  Cruse (the one I tried) had a minimum of 3 months waiting list.

Someone recommended Arc whom I had never heard of before even though it's right on my doorstep.  Arc specialises in youth counselling but has an extensive adult counselling and mentor service, no waiting list and no hoops to jump to get an appointment and with up to 20 sessions promised, well, you can imagine how relieved I was knowing I could speak with someone trained to understand and who is understanding.  I could say so much more but this is turning into an essay already, so.  As a thanks and to raise their profile I am going to go Sober for October.  It is initially a MacMillan Cancer idea therefore I will be making a sizeable personal donation to MacMillan myself and will use this page for Arc. Please visit their page to get more information on the services they offer, thanks for reading and please give what you can to support this wonderful local resource.  :)
