Story

I will be having my first and last boxing match on Sunday November 24th. The card starts at 3pm in Club Republic, Leicester. Its a black tie event, so no jeans, shirts and ties for the guys. Obviously this is pretty nerve wracking at the best of times so I'm hoping for as much support as possible from friends, family and Mansion! Tickets are £20 with profits going to the organisers charity.

This is my new Just Giving page, the proceeds of which will got to Andrew Gibsons charity. Gibbo was a larger than life character and a good friend to very many people from Loughborough and Middlesborough who died in his early 20's following a car accident and long coma on his placement year in Dubai. His funeral and the time spent with his family before and after will stay with many of us forever. The few of us who have lived and stayed in Loughborough along with his University Hall - Faraday - are keen to keep his story and name in the uni conscious in the years after his peer group have graduated.

The fund is administered by Loughborough RAG and supports the hospital ward he stayed at during his coma.

I would never normally have wanted to, or considered fighting especially in front of a large crowd but I believe that if you're doing a charity fundraiser it should be something extreme, that most people just wouldn't ever want to do. Its supposed to be a challenge to overcome and this feels like the right thing to do for Gibbo's memory especially since he was such a sportsman.

I don't have any targets, so thank you for your generosity. I will train as hard as possible, and do my best to win the fight whether I'm actually any good or not!
