This is the 2nd time I have run and raised money for charity. Previously I ran the 2012 Greater Manchester Marathon in 3.37.38 for Little Bridge House which is a Children's Hospice based in North Devon where my cousin Vanessa works with sick children and this time I have been very lucky to get a place and represent the RNLI in the Virgin Money London Marathon 2016.
50% of the money raised is going to the RNLI HQ in Poole, Dorset and 50% of the money raised is going to the RNLI station based in Ilfracombe, North Devon which is my hometown. One of my other cousins, Stuart, helped out at the Ilfracombe station when he was younger also.
Growing up in Ilfracombe and being a professional Scuba Diver I have witnessed on many occasions the lifeboats leave the harbour rescuing distressed boats and crew in the Bristol Channel. This channel estuary has one of the highest tidal ranges in the world — about 50 feet (15 m) with very strong and turbulent currents!
