East Cheshire Hospice provides essential care, support and compassion to local adults facing life limiting illnesses. We rely on fundraising to pay for over 80% of our daily costs, and so you can be sure your support will make a huge difference to our patients, their families and loved ones.

Story

On 12th July 2017 my dad was rushed to hospital after having a stroke and within days of the stroke he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.

After nine difficult weeks of being in and out of hospital we were able to move dad to the East Cheshire Hospice where we made our last memories together as a family.

Dad arrived at the hospice on Friday 15th and we said goodbye to him on Saturday 16th September. He was given 24hours of unrepayable care, understanding and support.

The incredible staff treated dad with the dignity and attention he so very deserved and as a family we were welcomed with open arms!

The medical and practical care were second to none but it was the tea on tap, the constant empathy, the beds to put our heads down on & the nurse who went home from her shift and came back with that much needed bottle opener that we will remember forever.

It costs £7,500 a day to fund this level of care at the hospice and 80% of that funding comes from donations.

With the help of coachcoddy (aka marathon man) I will be running my first half marathon in Copenhagen on the first anniversary of my dad's death; in memory of him and to say thank you to everyone at the ECH!

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and please help me support the East Cheshire Hospice who helped my dad and my family when we needed it most 💛

Thanks Xx
