Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page for Yie Mun who was also known to many as Lauren.

This is for any donations in lieu of flowers.

She was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, auntie, partner, friend, colleague, mentor, manager and many other titles by which brought smiles to everyone who knew her.

Lauren loved her son Harley with all her heart and made sure she was there for him wherever he needed her. She guided him at every turn and he is testament to her ability as a mother.

She was an extremely caring person which is known by everyone who has had contact with her and she had such an amazing fun personality which she utilised to the fullest by making everyone around her smile and make their troubles or worries not seem as bad.

She was determined not to let anything get in the way and was always setting herself new targets whether it was smashing Tough Mudder or passing her test and going out on her motorbike.

During the arduous process of sorting out her affairs we found that she had given to a homeless charity every month on order to help feed ther homeless. Even though she was extremely busy with work and home life, Lauren found time to learn how to crochet and then started making little characters for charity.

When Lauren was initially diagnosed, she underwent several operations which had limited success. Unfortunately it was discovered too late and it had spread but Lauren was still strong in her resolve and was determined in blocking the pathways, her ability to push through all the treatment no matter how harsh was inspiring to us all. Lauren was determined not to go down without a fight.

Even after her condition deteriorated dramatically after returning from her holiday to Wales she did her best to remain strong. Unfortunately whilst she was in the hospital she became paralysed on her left side, struggling to be able to do her normal day to day activities. Later she spoke of not being able to eat much of what was listed on the menu and having to feed herself using her fingers to scoop out jelly which was the only thing she could manage without assistance. As a result her condition worsened to the point where we thought she would be leaving the world imminently.

However Macmillan's managed to get her moved to the Barnsley Hospice where she was able to manage to partially recover due to their care to the point where she was able to go for a final day out with her family at Barnsley Football ground. She was so thankful for that opportunity and so were our family. At the hospice she was also able to regain her humour which the staff loved and regained her dignity which for us, is priceless and immeasurable.

They say every touch leaves a thousand traces, i cannot even begin to imagine how many hearts my sister touched so we would like to express our gratitude by giving donations to the Barnsley Hospice in order to help other families who have or will have to go through what we had to go through.
