Story
After an awful couple of weeks where my drugs have stopped
working again, and more sadly a beautiful friend has passed away from this terrible disease, I am pleased to announce that I will be part of a charity event to raise awareness of Secondary Breast Cancer and raise some much needed funding for Future Dreams Charity. I will be joining a group of males/females living with this type of cancer and we will be climbing the O2 (as some of you know, I
have hoped to do this for some time).
Primary breast cancer does not kill and is curable (life changing, horrific but curable), Secondary breast cancer is incurable and kills. It is when the Cancer rather selfishly spreads to your bones, liver, brain or lungs. There is no cure, it is a life limiting lottery of a disease. 31 people a day, in the UK alone, die from Secondary Breast Cancer, which comparatively
receives a disproportionate amount of research versus Primary breast cancer (primary research is so very valuable too, it’s just that secondary could do with more). It can hit anyone, at any time, any age, any gender yet it is rarely spoken about. I for one am open to admit that my awareness of secondary breast cancer was incredibly limited, sadly myself, family and friends now all know far more than we would ever have hoped too.
So if you happen to have read this to the end, please dig deep to support this amazing charity and cause, in the hope that in generations to come incurable cancer will be a thing we overcome.
Many Thanks
Jayne
Future Dreams is raising funds to support women through their breast cancer journey. FD works on a number of campaigns to create awareness and fund research projects, with a main focus on secondary breast cancer. Over 50,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year, the equivalent of one person every 10 minutes according to Breast Cancer Care. To date Future Dreams has raised over £5m pledging funds towards the charities three aims - support, awareness and research, focusing on secondary breast cancer.
