We fight for a world without iron overload to prevent serious illness and save lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For those that don't know I was diagnosed with Genetic Haemochromatosis (GH) 2 years ago. This was something that I had never heard of before and it came as a real shock given that it is hereditary and I am the first to be diagnosed in my family.

GH means that your body cannot process iron which can result in iron overload and if not discovered can lead to serious health problems such as organ damage.

I was very fortunate to be diagnosed early and have been receiving treatment to control the condition and can lead a relatively normal life despite the odd off day! I have come across others that have not been so lucky so it is extremely important to me to help spread awareness so that more people know about haemochromatosis and it can be diagnosed in good time.

Doing the Natterjack 10k is a massive challenge for me as I am not really a runner (I have dodgy joints!) and have never completed such a distance so if you could support me by donating however little I would be extremely grateful! Many thanks in advance.
