Story
I'm running the Brighton Marathon to help raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Knowing I'm raising money for a good cause motivates me on cold mornings as I work my way through 495 miles of training runs - and that's before I get to the marathon's start line!
Cancer is a disease which has cropped up in my immediate and extended family. When Mum was diagnosed, Cancer Research UK was an important source of information for us at a time when we all learned more about medicine than we ever wanted to. Thankfully we're six years and counting since her diagnosis.
Cancer Research UK also funded the labs where I did my research; without them I wouldn't be where I am today. Raising funds through the marathon is just one way in which I hope to repay CR UK.
Finally, Cancer Research UK is an important army in the battle against this disease which affects 1 in 3 people. My motto is "Life is too short" and for many people cancer is the reason why life is too short. Please help support their life supporting and life saving work.
