When we were growing up in Inverness, my Dad always had the great idea of cycling to his home town of Glasgow along with his two sons (that's Dad's picture on the left). Like a lot of these things that are talked about when growing up, it never came to pass and was confined to the recesses of the mind as something that would still be a good idea ......someday!
Dad has had Dementia for the last few years and recently went into nursing care in Strathpeffer, looked after by the excellent staff at Strathallan House, and will now not be in a position to cycle from anywhere to anywhere never mind the 250 miles from Glasgow to Inverness. However his offspring Jean, Duncan and Rob have decided to to take up the challenge, and on Thursday the 26th May we will set off from just outside the SECC in Glasgow, and travel the sustrans route 7 all the way to Inverness arriving on Sunday afternoon the 29th.
To make this journey mean something we have decided to raise £2000 for Alziemers Scotland, to allow them to carry on the research and care work that may one day, crack this condition that you really would not want one of your family to go through.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and help Jean, Rob and Duncan make a difference.
Thank you
