I only found running 2 years ago, after doing the c25k course, but never expected to fall in love with it or get as much from running as I do. I've done several half marathons now and it feels like the right time to take on this challenge. 

With a challenge like this I really wanted to raise some awareness, along with the opportunity to raise some much needed funds, for a local Jersey charity who won my heart a few years ago when my work place at the time were asking for donations in an appeal for Christmas presents. These presents were for local children who would otherwise not get what so many are lucky enough to take for granted. 

This wonderful charity helps children from birth to 25 years, who are being looked after in states care or are leaving care, as well as those that are suffering adversity and in need.

Some examples of the things they fund:

After school/holiday clubs, clothing,  nursery/baby items, sports/leisure activities and memberships, school trips, bus passes, toys, educational computers and laptops,  food/milk/nappy vouchers,  graduation expenses,  support for children of care leavers,  independent moving on grants,  residential welcome pack (consisting of bed linen, towels, rug, pictures etc), 21st birthday gifts for care leavers and Christmas gifts for all the children and young people they support. 

As you can imagine, the costs are astronomical so if I, running around the island doing something I genuinely love,  can raise a few pounds for this fantastic charity then all my efforts whilst training will be so so worth it
